Description: Sacred Heart celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15 th August 2024 with grandeur and patriotic fervour. Maj. Gen. Vikramjit Singh Gill graced the occasion with his benign presence as the Chief Guest . The programme started with the hoisting of the National Flag followed by rendition of National Anthem. The function began with a warm welcome and a solemn prayer to invoke blessings for the nation. The ceremony was inaugurated with the ‘Lighting of the Lamp’, symbolizing the presence of God. The colourful cultural programme presented by the students started with ‘Matribhoomi ko Naman”, a tribute to the motherland, setting the tone for the day’s events. The Head Girl, shared her thoughts on the significance of Independence Day highlighting the role of young minds in shaping the future of the country. The youngest members of the school took the stage in ‘Tiny Tots’ Dancing Shoes ‘exhibiting their enthusiasm and patriotism through an acrobatic dance. ‘Expressions’ followed, allowing students to express their love for the nation through poetry. ‘Punjabiat’ brought out the essence of Punjab through the energy , exuberence and enthusiasm displayed by students as they danced to Bhangra music. The programme delved into the ‘Life of a Martyr’, a moving tribute to the Indian Revolutionary, Matangini Hazra who laid down her life for the nation. Students celebrated the diversity in the rich culture of India through their dance and drama. In a special segment titled ‘Bharat ki Veerangnayen’, Himanshi Malik, our International Wushu Champion performed martial arts with great technique and skill. The event concluded with the Chief Guest’s Address where Maj. Gen. Vikramjit Singh Gill spoke on the significance of “Naam, Namak, Nishaan” as the motto of the Indian Army. He interacted with the students and shared anecdotes from his life which inspired the audience. Rev. Sr. Venita presented a memento to Maj. Gen. Gill as a token of gratitude and appreciation. A vote of thanks was proposed to acknowledge the contribution of everyone who worked towards making the programme a grand success. The celebration ended with the national anthem sung with patriotic emotion, a sense of honour and pride.
