The concluding day of the SHS SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) SUMMIT '23 held at Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School in Chandigarh was a grand success, culminating in a vibrant celebration of sustainability and creativity. The event, held on October 15, 2023, brought together students, staff, and guests in a spirit of unity and awareness. The concluding day saw various committees discussing about the global issues. The closing ceremony commenced with a soulful prayer dance followed by melodious performance by the school band that set a contemplative and harmonious tone. Students showcased their dedication to global sustainability through expressive movements and graceful choreography, underscoring the importance of compassion and unity in achieving the SDGs. An electrifying performance of hip hop and bhangra demonstrated the students' enthusiasm and energy. Semi-classical dance performance added a touch of classical elegance to the event. The students showcased their talent, combining traditional dance forms with contemporary themes, reinforcing the idea that our heritage and modernity can coexist harmoniously in the journey towards sustainable development.
The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Mr. Bhawani Shankar Tripathy, a behaviour change communication practitioner with 20 years of experience. Sr. Namrata, a lawyer and a champion of human rights, Director of NGO ‘Seraphina Trust’ was invited as Special Guest of Honour. Mr. Vivek Atray, ex IAS officer and motivational TEDx speaker and Advisor to Shoolini University and Dr. Livleen Khahlon, a Senior Researcher and Associate Director in Ethnoecology at The Energy and Resources Institute were invited as Guests of Honour. The guests were welcomed with green tokens as gratitude. The Summit Director, Mr Priyanshu Grover and the Convener, Mr Adarsh Kumar Singh also addressed the audience and expressed their gratitude.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of winners who excelled in various categories related to the SDGs. The categories and winners were as follows:
“Best Delegation Award” trophy which was won by Strawberry Field High School, Sector 26 and Bhawan Vidalaya, 27 Chandigarh was conferred with ‘Runner Up Trophy’ .Mr. Vivek Atray, Principal Rev. Sr. Arti alongwith Mr. Priyanshu felicitated the winners with trophies. Faculty incharges Ms. Jasmine Gill and Ms. Renu Sahani extended the vote of thanks to all those who worked tirelessly to make this summit a success.In addition to the announced winners, special awards were also presented to recognize outstanding efforts in raising awareness about the SDGs among students and the broader community.The closing ceremony of the SDG Summit left an indelible mark on the school community. It showcased the immense talent and dedication of the students in their pursuit of a sustainable and equitable world. The event succeeded in inspiring a sense of responsibility and a commitment to the SDGs among the youth.
