Description: Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh, reaffirmed its dedication to environmental sustainability through a significant green initiative by its Eco Club, Woodsia Alpinia. In a heartfelt effort to promote ecological awareness and conservation, the school inaugurated a Miyawaki Mini Forest on its premises—a dense, fast-growing native forest developed using the Miyawaki method.
The event was graced by Ms. Hairatjit Kaur Brar, Indian Forest Service Officer and DTO-cum-Secretary, Road Transport Authority, Panchkula, as the chief guest. The ceremony commenced with the school prayer, setting a reflective tone for the proceedings. Ms. Brar was given a symbolic "green welcome" by students and faculty, in line with the theme of environmental harmony.
During her address, Ms. Brar emphasized the importance of afforestation and the unique advantages of the Miyawaki technique, which helps restore biodiversity and combat urban pollution. Her insights served to enlighten students on how small steps in environmental stewardship can lead to substantial impacts.
The highlight of the program was the soulful rendition of the Green Anthem by students, echoing their commitment to a sustainable future. This initiative marks a significant stride in the school’s ongoing mission to nurture socially responsible and environmentally conscious young citizens.
