Description: These days Indian classical dance Bharatnatyam is being taught in Sacred Heart School, Chandigarh.The festival is witnessing over 70 girls aged between 3 and 17 years participating in a 10-day workshop. The workshop will start from May 24 and continue till June 4, conducted by renowned dance instructors Rahul and Nandini Gupta and their team. Every morning from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, the girls are practicing barefoot dance in traditional Indian attire. The workshop teaches them mudras, basic dance steps, and basic Bharatanatyam performances like Pushpanjali, Alarippoo and Varnam. The workshop is not just a dance training but an effort to connect the girls to Indian culture and tradition, where they are learning the art with respect, discipline and dedication. This is the fourth Bharatanatyam workshop organized at Sacred Heart School, reflecting the school's commitment to cultural education. On this occasion, we would like to express our special thanks to the Principal of the school, Sister Venita Joseph, without whose support and encouragement this workshop would not have been possible. Her contribution in the promotion of Indian art and culture is commendable.
