As the country celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Sacred Heart celebrated the 75th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic fervour. We were honoured to have Col. Anupam Singh Randhawa, Commanding Officer. 1 Chandigarh Girls, Bn. NCC, Chandigarh as our chief guest for the day.
The programme started with the hoisting of the National Flag along with the March Past. The NSS Volunteers and the NCC cadets marched proudly to the beats of the school band as the chief guest took the salute. Heartians put up a plethora of enthralling and commendable performances inspired by the vision and colours of this beautiful country that we call "India"- our motherland. It had something for everyone, be it the scintillating dance performances comprising of aerobics, Bhangra, glimpses of heritage of India or the euphonious voices of the school choir. Our chief guest raved about the performance of Heartians and appreciated the students for all their hard work. Our Principal Rev. Sr. Arti felicitated the chief guest with a memento and a robe. The celebrations concluded with the National Anthem and the distribution of sweets to the students. Each of us went home with lots of memories to treasure and a renewed patriotic spirit.

NCC cadets and NSS volunteers of Sacred Heart took out a rally on the eve of 75th Independence
Day as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. It was marked by patriotic fervour and spurred up the
nationalistic tempo among one and all.
Wishing all these honourable life-saving professionals, as well as those who are on their way to
becoming doctors, a great National Doctor’s Day 2022". Little Heartians prepared gratitude cards
for the Heroes in White.

'Uncommon thinkers reuse what common thinkers refuse'.
As the world joins hands to achieve the common goal of saving the mother Earth from total and mass
destruction it is very important to make the future generations aware of the catastrophe awaiting
to strike our planet if we humans still refuse to mend our ways. Under the flagship of Azadi ka
Amrut Mahotsav, students of class IV participated in a paper bag making activity wherein they made
beautiful paper bags using eco friendly and bio degradable material.
India is a land rich in colourful hues of festivals, traditions, culture and history. Baisakhi
celebrated on April 13 every year is a spring harvest festival that signifies that the harvest
is complete and represents a time of plenty for the farmers. It is a time for celebrations and
thanks giving for the good harvest. The students of class V took part in an activity where they
performed the folk dance of their state 'Gidda' on the occasion of Baisakhi. This activity was
held under the flagship of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
World day of social justice falls on 20th February every year. To commemorate this day as part of
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the students of class 7th voiced their thoughts creatively on social justice
in the form of collages. They also articulated their views in the form of their pictures depicting
their take on justice.
To commemorate the “World Day of Social Justice” as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the students
of class 7th and AKAM club members voiced their thoughts creatively on social justice. It falls on
20th February every year.
Every year 26th November is celebrated as Samvidhan Diwas, in order to commemorate the day of adoption of Constitution. This year, as part of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav", we did the reading of the Preamble to Constitution which was Multilingual.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was one of India’s greatest freedom fighter. He revived the Indian National Army, popularly known as ‘Azad Hind Fauj’ in 1943. As part of the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, 21st October was dedicated to commemorate the declaration of the Provisional Government of Free India (INA Raising Day). The day began by patriotic songs eulogizing his contributions. A plethora of activities comprising of role play, poster designing, coining a slogan etc were conducted in all the classes.
Mahatma Gandhi led the Salt Satyagraha, also known as the Dandi March and the Dandi Satyagraha. It was an act of non violent civil disobedience during the British rule. In order to sensitize the students about this iconic march, a paragraph/ poetry writing competition to commemorate the “Dandi March” was held on 1st October, on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. All the students of class 10th exhibited their creativity in penning down their paragraphs and poems.
“Not me but you” is the motto of NSS which lays emphasis on selfless service. On the occasion of NSS day, our volunteers exhibited munificence by contributing a handsome sum of money for the underprivileged sections of the society. They also distributed food items among more than 600 residents of Industrial Area Colony No. 4.
Skill India mission is an initiative launched by the government to train 40 crore Indians in industry related jobs and to create an empowered work force by 2022. In order to sensitize the students about this flagship campaign, a declamation was conducted on the topic “Skill India Mission” for students of class IX today. The students eloquently expressed their views.
The culture of a nation is reflected through its language. Hindi language is our pride as it brings out the ethos of our great nation. It has originated from Sanskrit and is the fourth most spoken language in the world. Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on 14th September to highlight the importance of Hindi. The little Heartians of class I celebrated this day by creatively penning down the Hindi varnamala and thereby were infused with the essence of the day.
Indian National Movement is replete with the tales of valour and sacrifice of our freedom fighters. An online quiz was conducted for students of classes VIII-X on 11th September to gauge their knowledge of Indian National Movement. A Google form link was shared with all the students and they attempted the quiz online.
Teachers are the worthy role models whom the students emulate and unconsciously imbibe the values and virtues fostered by them. Teachers’ day is a salute to this noble profession. Ex- Heartian, Professor (Dr) Navleen Kaur, currently the Chairperson, Department of Community Education & Disability Studies, P.U. Chandigarh, shared a presentation with the Heartians showcasing the contributions of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan on this occasion.
Sports hold paramount importance in our lives and facilitate disciplined and healthy lifestyle. The Indian athletes at the recently concluded Olympic Games, held at Tokyo, brought laurels to the nation and made us proud. They exhibited high standards of sportsmanship and won medals in various categories. In order to bring awareness in students about the importance of sports and the pride associated with representing one's country, an online quiz based on the Tokyo Olympics 2020, was conducted for students of class V on 4th September.

Teacher's Day is an acknowledgement of the role that a 'Guru' plays in shaping the lives of their 'shishya'. Saluting these silent warriors for their never ending motivation and inspiration, the Heartians in their very creative way showered the teachers with love and affection. We present to you the lovely creative work by the loving students.
National Sports Day was celebrated in the school on 29th August. Students from classes IX-XII made posters highlighting the importance of sports in everyday life.
Fitness is of paramount importance in our lives. Heartians are committed to staying fit. A 4km run was flagged off by Rev. Sr. Arti to commemorate the “Fit India Movement” today morning. A contingent comprising of both NCC cadets and NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in the “Fit India Freedom Run 2.0”. 85 girls were lead by Ms. Anjana, NCC incharge and Ms. Chaitaly, NSS incharge.
“Rakhi- A bond of love, of togetherness which binds our hearts and souls”
Heartians celebrated the festival of Rakshabandhan not only by tying rakhis but also by planting saplings. Our bond with nature is eternal as we are an inseparable part of the environment. The bond created by planting their own saplings on this day paves the way for building an everlasting relationship with nature.
The students of class VI spoke on the importance of this day and took a pledge to encourage communal harmony, peace, affection and national integration in the country. Students also made posters on peace and national integration.
Akshay Urja Diwas was celebrated in the school with great enthusiasm by the students of class IX and X. Many activities were conducted on the developments in the field of renewable energy and its consumption and use.
Photography Competition was held in all the sections of class XI. The students clicked pictures on the theme “Glimpses of True India” and gave a caption to the pictures on the eve of World Photography Day.
Sacred Heart fraternity celebrated 75th Independence Day with patriotic zest and zeal. The tricolour was hoisted by Rev. Sr. Lucy followed by the singing of the national anthem by Rev. Sr. Arti, Sr. Linet, Sr. Kusum and all the sisters in unison. 75 Aloe vera saplings were distributed to celebrate 75 years of independence. The online celebrations were marked by various competitions, namely poetry recitation, folk dances, patriotic songs, quiz, speeches, slogan writing and poster making. The enthusiasm of the Heartians in all the activities was exemplary and was a profound expression of their patriotic spirit.

Saving lives- a noble act
Students were sensitized about the importance of organ donation. Donating organs today can save innumerable lives tomorrow.
India is a land of festivals and traditions. The onset of monsoon is marked by Teej festival in which women and girls keep a fast, dance, sing, apply henna etc. which resonates with the lush green nature in the rainy season.

As India enters into the 75th year of its Independence, the young nation dreams and strives to achieve the different milestones it has set for itself. With pride in their eyes and a high morale, the youth of our nation embrace the rich history of the country. On the eve of the Independence Day, the students of Class IV A- E paid rich homage to the freedom fighters.
