Sacred Heart provides its students with many opportunities to excel in all aspects of life. MUN is a popular activity for those interested in learning more about how the UN operates. Participants in Model United Nations conferences, known as delegates, are placed in committees and assigned countries to represent, or occasionally other organizations or political figures, where they represent members of that body. Delegates are assigned countries before the conference, along with receiving a topic, or topics, that their committee will discuss. Heartians are active participants in MUN which helps them to gain firsthand knowledge of what the actual UN is like. It involves and teaches participants speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. They represent various countries and discuss the challenges faced and the possible solutions for them. It helps students to enhance their oratory skills, become aware and more responsible citizens of tomorrow. Some of the MUN’s of which our students are an active apart of are:
